RitchieIoT Refund and Returns Policy

At RitchieIoT, we strive to ensure your satisfaction with every purchase you make from our e-commerce website. If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, our Refund and Returns Policy provides you with peace of mind and fully aligns with South African consumer protection laws.

1. General Returns and the 7-Day Cooling-Off Period

1.1. Cooling-Off Period: In accordance with Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), you have the right to cancel your purchase and return the goods within 7 days of receiving them, without providing a reason or incurring any penalties.

1.2. To be eligible for a cooling-off return, the product must be in its original condition, unused, and in its original, unopened packaging.

1.3. Under this section, you are only liable for the direct cost of returning the goods to us.

2. Return Process

2.1. To initiate a return, please contact our customer support team by email or phone to log your return request.

2.2. Our team will provide you with detailed instructions, including the return address and any necessary forms.

2.3. Shipping Costs: You are responsible for the return shipping costs for a “change of mind” (cooling-off) return. However, if the return is due to our error or a defective product, RitchieIoT will cover all collection and shipping costs.

3. Refund Process

3.1. Once we receive the returned product and verify its condition, we will process your refund within 14 days (well within the statutory 30-day limit).

3.2. The refund will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase, unless mutually agreed otherwise.

3.3. Restocking Fees: By law, no restocking fees apply to 7-day cooling-off returns if the items are unopened. However, if goods are returned under general CPA rules outside of the cooling-off period and the original packaging is missing or destroyed, a reasonable repackaging or restocking fee may be deducted.

4. Exchanges

4.1. We currently do not offer direct exchanges for non-defective products. If you wish to exchange a product, please follow the return process to obtain a refund and then place a new order.

5. Exceptions and Non-Returnable Items

5.1. In compliance with South African law, certain items are excluded from the 7-day cooling-off period. These include:

  • Products customized or made specifically to your specifications.
  • Unsealed computer software or electronic media.
  • Products that, due to hygiene or public health reasons, cannot be returned once opened.These products will be clearly indicated on our website, and standard returns do not apply unless the product is defective.

6. Damaged or Defective Products (6-Month Implied Warranty)

6.1. Under Section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), all RitchieIoT products carry a 6-month implied warranty of quality.

6.2. If a product you receive is damaged, unsafe, or becomes defective within 6 months of delivery through normal use, you must notify us immediately. We may request photo evidence to assist the process.

6.3. Your Choice of Remedy: In the event of a material defect within this 6-month period, you have the legal right to choose your preferred remedy:

  • A full refund.
  • A replacement of the product.
  • A repair of the product.6.4. All returns, repairs, and replacements for defective goods within this period are at the risk and expense of RitchieIoT.6.5. Note: This warranty does not cover defects arising from normal wear and tear, gross negligence, abuse, user alteration, or failure to follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions.

7. Order Cancellation

7.1. If you wish to cancel an order before it is dispatched, please contact customer support as soon as possible for a full refund. If the order has already been shipped, the standard 7-day cooling-off return process will apply.
